Lead content team initiatives for digital B2B news and market intelligence service. Research, write and edit original content, including news articles, blogs and case studies. Aggregate, curate and publish daily news across a variety of industries, such as forestry, pulp and paper, packaging and consumer packaged goods. Investigate and initiate news coverage of industry-specific market trends and policy issues, including carbon solutions, renewable energy investments and corporate sustainability initiatives. Educate clients on press guidelines to improve process. Train new hires and manage in-house style assets.

 

• Partner with the IT team to test and deploy new AI-powered tools and train AI on system automation.

• Researched, reported and wrote a branded abstract about Industry Intelligence’s Sustainability Monitor that secured the company a highly competitive spot to present on stage at the 2020 Sustainability in Packaging Conference.

• Oversaw an internal initiative to build trust among existing and prospective clients.

• Led production of a series of case studies. Interviewed clients about the value of Industry Intelligence’s service and wrote and edited final project deliverables.

Contracted as the Content Manager for Fruition, a Denver-based social media marketing agency, to develop content strategy and deliver marketing material for clients. Wrote and edited website copy, press releases, blogs, infographics, video scripts, email campaigns and customer communications. Followed SEO best practices to create content using relevant keywords and key phrases. Published and managed content on various web platforms. Created and oversaw editorial calendars. Researched, reported and wrote monthly news and feature articles for The Group Travel Leader, Select Traveler, Small Market Meetings and SportsTravel magazines. Identified and selected subject-matter experts to interview for articles about the meetings and group travel industries. Developed source relationships with meeting planners, group leaders and tourism executives.

 

• Wrote and edited all student communications for Colorado Mountain College’s new CRM system.

August 2010 – October 2011

 

Built Industry Intelligence’s Alternative Energy news service from the ground up. Researched the industry and developed the news platform accordingly. Created and managed complex feeds to track daily news in the sector. Searched for press releases and licensed news stories and posted them to the company’s online dashboard. Wrote descriptive headlines to summarize each news article and tagged each post with metadata. Blogged about industry conferences and trends for the website and worked with the social media department to increase Industry Intelligence’s presence on LinkedIn and Twitter.

City Reporter

January 2007 – July  2010

 

Covered all aspects of Longmont city government and reported local and regional stories. Tracked complex, ongoing issues and developed and maintained source relationships with key government officials, city administrators and community players. Reported daily news stories on deadline, interviewed subject-matter experts and frequently wrote features, covered breaking news and tackled investigative series. Worked with photographers, designers and the digital department to produce multimedia projects, such as videos, slideshows and infographics. Updated TimesCall.com as well as the newspaper’s Facebook page and Twitter account during breaking news, crisis events or severe weather.

 

• Won several state and national awards for reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists, Colorado Press Association and Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters.

Covered all aspects of city government and tracked local and regional issues. Reported on the Loveland City Council and all city departments. Followed complex, long-term stories in the city of 75,000 people and developed source relationships with city officials, elected leaders and community stakeholders.
